This page describes the procedures for the replacement of the CDC, in cases when the valid CDC is damaged/torn/mutilated/exhausted pages. Replacement CDC application is made by an applicant who has a CDC which has been damaged/torn to a level that it cannot be produced as a document or exhaustion of pages and requires a new CDC book to continue his career at sea. An applicant who is holding a CDC which is undamaged or empty pages to be filled in, cannot apply for replacement CDC. The existing CDC Book in good condition or with empty pages will just be revalidated/renewed.

Documents Required:The Original CDC should be sent along with the signed online application to the Shipping Master’s Office where the application is made to.
Application Procedure:
The basic step before the application is to keep your Seafarer’s Profile updated. The information from the Seafarer’s Profile will be reflected in the application, hence update it before making the application. Login to your Seafarer’s Profile and click on CDC Management & CoC as Cook link.
Then select Replacement of CDC under the Submit Application tab.
The application form appears with the personal details reflected from the Seafarer’s Profile. Select the Shipping Master’s Office where you would like the replacement CDC issued from. Check the details and correct it if possible on the application form or else update the profile. Enter the missing details of the CDC in the form and click on Continue.
The address details appears, if the form is already filled in with your permanent address and contact information from the profile, check the details and correct it if required. Click on Continue if satisfactory.
The next page displays the Next of Kin details from the information provided to them during the previous CDC application. Change the details if required and click on Continue.
The next page displays the STCW details, if the displayed information is outdated, update it with your latest STCW course certificate information and click on Continue.
The next page displays the fee information of ₹700 for the application. Click on Continue.
Then comes the last stage for the application form where the required documents are displayed and the declaration of correctness of information is asked. Agree to the declaration by clicking on the tick box and click on Generate Application No. The application will not be submitted until the required fees are paid and the required documents are uploaded.
The application number will be generated and the page will display the payment link. If it does not, go to the CDC Management & CoC as Cook page and select Pay Fees, Upload Document & View Application Status under the Others tab for the payment link. Click on the payment link for the payment gateway and pay the fees.
After successful payment of the required fees, the Upload Document link appears in the status page. Click on the Upload Document link and upload the required documents and carefully follow the guidelines for uploading Photograph and Signature, else the application will be reverted back for re-uploading or worse may be the rejected of application.
Send the Original CDC and the signed online application to the appropriate SMO by Speed/Registered Post.
The status of the application can be viewed at the application status page. After verifying the application and the documents, the SMO will approve the application for the issue of CDC. The new CDC will get despatched to the address provided during the application process.

Negative, for change in address you will need to apply for correction in CDC information. Replacement of CDC is done only when it is lost, damaged or torn.

I just want to correct my name on CDC according to passport and I have mailed to SMO mumbai , they asked me to go for replacement , when I called in SMO chennai they asked to pay directly on bharatkosh site and courier the required documents , my CDC was issued in mumbai . Please help me with the same

Hello Pavan, the payment for correction and replacement are same, hence according to the information you received from the SMOs you can either choose to apply for correction/replacement. Please verify with the SMO Chennai if they can correct for Mumbai issued CDC and proceed with the process if possible.

Hello Maneesh, the DG website allows you to apply for replacement of CDC from any of the SMOs. But the address you provide should be the permanent address hence your present address cannot be provided.

Sir i have a slight spelling error in my permanent adress in CDC and i have requested for online correction and it has been approved. Sir is it necessary that i should replace the CDC or online correction in enough?. I got the CDC one week before

Hello Sayanth, the CDC is not considered as a proof of address, hence the mistake in the address does not matter. Still if you need the address to be changed in the CDC then you need to approach the CDC issuing MMD for further details.
